RIP Dave Brubeck

dave-brubeckDave Brubeck, legendary jazz musician and total class act, passed away on December 5, 2012, a day before his 92nd birthday.

Here’s a glorious PBS interview with Dave Brubeck, whose candor about his conversion to the Catholic religion is sweet and funny.

RIP and everlasting life, Mr. Brubeck. Thanks for the joy you gave to me and the world.

Now for a 1961 performance of “Take Five.” At that time, The Dave Brubeck Quartet was him on piano; Paul Desmond on alto saxophone; Joe Morello on drums; and Eugene Wright on double bass. The next video is a 10-minute rendition by the elderly Dave and some fellow jazz masters. Click here to get the song for yourself.
