Thousands ‘rock’ Brooklyn at NET & St. Athanasius youth festival

BROOKLYN, NY  On Friday, over 3,000 people from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn packed the Bensonhurst neighborhood for a youth festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. New Evangelization Television (NET) organized the festival and people of all ages came for free rides, games, food and drinks, plus live performances by Seri, Stephanie Hanvey, The Kunal, DJ Skribble and Reina.

Retired Police Chief Joseph Esposito and other notable New Yorkers joined the celebration. As the sun set on Brooklyn, he and thousands of others enjoyed a spectacular 3D light show by QAV.

The evening was hosted by Cindy Vero from KTU Radio’s Mornings with Cubby and Cindy and NET’s own celebrity hostess, actress Jenn Gotzon. Gotzon stars in two movies coming out this fall, Alone Yet Not Alone and Doonby.

During the festival, Gotzon wrote on her Facebook: “Wow, NET TV’s producer Craig Tubiolo ROCKED the house creating most mind-blowing event celebrating 100 year anniversary for St. Athanasius Church: 3D electronic light show, [and a] fireworks finale after inspirational bands. The street is packed as [thousands] of people [are] everywhere.” Gotzon added that she was “humbled with all the caliber of all the artists who performed they invited me too.”

Gotzon was happy to meet Msgr. David Cassato, the St. Athanasius pastor whom she calls “a sweet wonderful blessed man of God.”

The impressive turnout was due, in part, to the New York Daily News, Bergen.com and Francesca Norsen Tate of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle getting the word out. For more information and photos from Craig Tubiolo, click my ‘Contact’ button above and I’ll forward your request.
