Thanks to God, the disgruntled Chinese government and several embassies, yesterday Chen Guangcheng, his wife and children arrived in Newark, New Jersey and were taken to their new home at New York University.
Click here for a CBS report that explains the sensitive situation rather well: “‘For the past seven years, I have never had a day’s rest,’ he [Chen] said through a translator. ‘So I have come here for reparation in body and spirit.’
“Chen urged the crowd to fight for injustice, and thanked the U.S. and Chinese governments, and also the embassies of Switzerland, Canada and France.”
NDT Television covered much of Chen’s statement. His sponsor, NYU Law Professor Jerome Cohen, stands to the right.
The day after Chen’s arrival, he went to Central Park where AP interviewed Congressman Chris Smith and Professor Cohen.
Below, NDT Television shows excerpts from a video released by Chen and his wife, Yuan Weijing, in February 2011. I see they had a cat, which makes me like them even more.
